The Therapeutic Space
Dr. Maria Guiñazú
I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), a Chartered Psychologist with the BPS (British Psychological Society), and an accredited psychotherapist with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also a Clinical Psychologist trained in Argentina and a registered clinical supervisor with the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAAPS).
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), which can support the processing of overwhelming or traumatic experiences in a safe and contained way.
I work with adults, couples, and families, and I also facilitate therapeutic groups. I am based in Brighton and I also work online.
My approach integrates existential psychotherapy with somatic psychology, recognising the deep connection between body, emotions, thoughts, and imagination. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to support growth, healing, and a greater sense of embodied presence.
I am interested in understanding how you (and, where relevant, your partner) experience the world—what matters to you, how you relate to yourself and others, and how your experiences are held both emotionally and physically.
Alongside talking therapy, I may offer creative approaches such as writing, drawing, or movement, for those who feel that words alone are not always enough.
